#13 The Keep by Jennifer Egan

4 02 2008

Over the past year, I had read several reviews of The Keep by Jennifer Egan. For some reason, I shied away from purchasing it. When I saw it at the library, I decided to give it a chance.

Twenty years after a devastating prank changes their lives, Danny and Howie reunite to renovate an ancient European castle. Events similar to the pinnacle situation of their childhoods unfold into a catastrophe.

Egan does an excellent job of switching points of view. Most of the time, when author uses different characters to tell their story, I am left confused. Her transitions flow seamlessly.

Although I won’t be adding it to my personal collection, it was a fast-paced interesting read. Pick it up next time you are at the library. You won’t be disappointed.
