Sunny Florida Part 2

13 01 2008

On Sunday Laura and I ventured to MGM Studios where we saw much of the marathon occurring. This was a very well put together race. Characters were cheering people on over loud speakers and the crowd support was tremendous. Damn my foot problems.

The two main stunt attractions at MGM were closed. The few attractions we did see were slightly outdated, so I am glad that my admission to this park was free. We did go on the Star Wars ride, which was completely lost on me, as I am proud to say that I have never seen any of the Star Wars movies.

After MGM, we went to Animal Kingdom. It started pouring down rain while we were there. So, we bought ponchos and ate at the Rainforest Cafe that is right outside the park. We were going to go back to our hotel, but the sun came out as we were switching buses, so we went on to EPCOT Center.

I had a good time at EPCOT. The Spaceship Earth ride really made me think about how much technology has advanced over the years. We also rode on Ellen’s Energy Adventure (KPOW and I once saw a taping on the Ellen show), Mission: SPACE, Test Track, The Seas with Nemo & Friends and Honey, I Shrunk The Audience. There was very little wait time, since we got there in the late afternoon, so we were able to pack a lot into just a few hours.

Future World (where all of the rides are) closed at 7:00, but the World Showcase (goods and food from different parts of the world) stayed open two hours later. It was dark, so we couldn’t see much of the offering in this area, but we did have a wonderful meal. We ate at L”originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante in the Italy section of World Showcase. This was an authentic fine dining Italian restaurant. We both had the lasagna and agreed that it was by far the best lasagna we’d ever had.

It’s amazing to think that it all started with a mouse…
